"The Power of Words" Mohammed Qahtani DUE: Tuesday, 2/19

In your notebook answer the following:
Evaluate the speaker's body language. How does Qahtani present himself as a speaker? Discuss his tone and his overall body language. Keep in mind that body language is a vital part of communicating effectively.

What is his Tone? Does it change? Does tone affect a formal speech?

Powerful Introductions: How Powerful are the first impressions he creates for the audience? Does he use visuals, anecdotes or allusions to captivate his audience? Evaluate the introduction.

Conclusions are vital. Does Qahtani deliver a powerful conclusion?

Based on your understanding of the speech.. What are his main points? How does he deliver them? Is he organized? Is he compelling? Do his words create an impact for the audience?

According to Lucas and his assertions on "arousing the audience", "telling a story" , "preview the body of the speech so that main points cover the speech", does this speech cover any if not all of these vital elements?

What did you think of the speech? If you were me, how would you grade it? Would you adopt any of his skills in your next speech? Would you change anything?

Note: We wrap up our first speech next week and move quickly into Workshop 2 and "Choosing a Topic" for the Informative Speech!

Have a Wonderful Weekend!
